Monterosso
Monterosso is the largest village of the Cinque Terre.
It consists of two settlements, the old village to the east and the most recent and tourist village of Fegina to the west; it has important monuments such as the church dedicated to St.
John the Baptist, built in 1220, and, on the Colle dei Cappuccini, the Fieschi castle and the Monastery , whose church, dedicated to San Francesco, contains artworks of rare value, attributed to Van Dyck and other artists from Liguria.
We recommend "Villa Montale" in Fegina, where the great poet Montale, Nobel Prize for Literature, lived and where you can admire the "Gigante", an impressive concrete statue 14 meters high, built in the early 900's, representing Neptune, God of the Sea .
